Circuit history:
Built by Nakuru Municipal Council to a design by Jim Heather-Hays Snr., the circuit was located in the Lake View Estate area of Nakuru. The 1.328 miles circuit was in fairly close proximity to the Lake Nakuru National Park, world-famous for its huge flamingo population -though not so close as to cause any concern to the lake's inhabitants and transients.
Run by the Nakuru Track Joint Committee, the race meetings were organised by the East African Motor Sports Club.
Nakuru fell into disuse as the number of available racing cars and circuit maintenance funds declined. Cars became fewer partly through natural attrition and partly through their owners perhaps seeking more secure harbours for their movable assets.
By 1986, while the circuit outline was still discernable, all 'removables' had disappeared, having been purloined for other uses.
The remaining track has seen occassional use as a testing ground for rally cars ahead of the Safari Rally.
