Circuit history:

This street circuit ran around the business district of Shanghai and was used for a one-off non-championship round of the DTM in 2004. The first race was abandoned after Bern Mayländer's car was destroyed by a loose manhole cover. After a long delay, the second race was won by Gary Paffett in a Mercedes. The DTM did not return, and with the opening of the new International Circuit nearby, it is unlikely the streets will be used for racing again.
