Circuit history:
A short-lived circuit used by the German Super Touring Championship in the late 1990s, Lahr was laid out around the runway and permiter roads of an airport near Freiburg.
The airfield was orginially developed as a base for Zepellin airships but was soon expanded for military aeroplane use and saw action during World War Two. More recently, it has been de-militarised and is now a civilian commuter hub, known as Black Forest Airport.
The circuit - which was also known as the Regio-Ring - was not hugely popular, being rather tight and twisty. Winners of the STW-Championship were Johnny Cecotto and Joachim Winkelhock for BMW, with Uwe Alzen taking the spoils for Opel and Gabriele Tarquini for Honda on a lightly modified course for the final year in 1998.
