Circuit history:
New track on the Swedish Island of Gotland. Northern Europe's longest track, it opened in August 2003 for visitors to tour the first completed section (the Tjelvar circuit).
The state-of-the-art multifunctional facility is the only circuit in the world designed and built for both international racing at the highest level and corporate entertainment motorsports events.
It is also the only circuit complex in the world that provides the automotive industry an R&D forum for both telematic services (i.e. platform-independent wireless applications) and traffic safety. There is even a testing and product development centre for mission-specific, zero- and low-emission vehicles.
Its unique setting provides stunning surroundings and infrastructure for both conferences and congresses. The Visby Congress Centre (under construction) and several other both functional and beautiful facilities enable various forms of events on the island of Gotland.
The variety of layouts (see links below map) allow up to three circuits to be used independently and provides six distinct variations. Both national and International racee fixtures are being sought for the future.
