Circuit history:
One of only two racing circuits in Wales - the other is Pembrey, near Swansea - Anglesey Circuit is unique in Britain as the only permanent track located off the mainland.
Also known as Trac Môn, the circuit opened in 1997 on the site of the former Ty Croes rallycross circuit. Rallycross still takes place here on a special section which bypasses the second half of the track. The whole facility was originally an army base and radar station (where the late John Peel was once stationed during his National Service!).
Following the 2006 season, the circuit was heavily redeveloped to create a substantially new course. The finished version is similar to proposals first made in 2004. Circuit bosses hope to eventually tempt national series like the BTCC and F3 to run rounds in North Wales.
