Circuit history:
Miami's Bicentennial Park was home to a popular round of the IMSA sportscar series between 1983 to 1994. The course was made faster and more flowing with a complete redesign in 1986. Another change came in 1995, when the circuit direction was reversed, and Champcars replaced the sportscars for a one-off race before switching to the new Miami-Homestead Speedway opened that same year by race promoter Ralph Sanchez.
