Owned by the Bahre family, New Hampshire International Speedway - also known as Loudon - has come in for criticism over the years from the drivers on the NASCAR tour, who regarded it as difficult to overtake and race cleanly on. However, recent changes have done a lot to silence the critics, and the NASCAR events have proved popular with fans.
“New Hampshire has definitely caught a lot of slack from some of the competitors over the years, but the Bahre family has really gone out of its way to continue to make changes to the track to better the racing at the 'Magic Mile'," says driver Ken Schrader.
"We’ve seen better racing up there the past couple of times because of the Bahre family’s commitment to make sure not only the racing is good for the fans, but better for the drivers as well.
“New Hampshire is a neat track in a nice part of the country that we don’t get to visit too often. The fact is we enjoy the racing at New Hampshire, especially here in the past few years where you can really run side by side through the turns.
"It’s tough to get hooked up there though because you have to get the car where it rotates through the centre, where the car wants to turn, but you will still be able to lay the throttle down when you’re coming off the turns. Those are tight, flat turns and you can’t carry much speed through the corner.
"Then you have those long straightaways where you have to be able to get in the gas. If you can’t pick up the throttle quickly coming off the turns then it’ll be impossible to set up a pass on anyone. It’s definitely a unique little place," added Schrader.
