Circuit history:
Trenton's origins begin in 1888, when the New Jersey State Fairgrounds were built. By 1900 a half-mile dirt oval was constructed on the site, which was extended in 1946 to one mile, and in 1957 was paved.
It was again rebuilt in 1969 into its final, unique 1.5 mile kidney-shaped oval format. Hosting USAC Indycar races until the late 1970s, Trenton was demolished in 1983 to make way for the New Jersey Grounds for Sculpture.
