Malaysia's Sepang circuit has undergone a raft of safety changes, in time for the second round of the F1 series. Unconfirmed reports have suggested that part of the track had been breaking up badly.

Circuit chairman Haji Basir Ismail revealed the changes, which were completed in the 22-week gap between F1 races.

"Kerbing at Turn 5 and 6 will be moved back to enhance driver safety and we are pushing back the guardrails at Turns 7 and 15 by between two and five metres to provide larger run-off areas," he said.

Extra drainage work is expected to alleviate occassional flooding problems.
