Denver streets to race again

Map showing the Denver GP course

A new race around the streets of Denver is to be added to the 2002 CART calendar. Denver - which has hosted Indycar races previously in 1990-91 - was identified by Long Beach promoter Chris Pook as one of the cities that would make an ideal host for a Champ Car race.

CART President Joseph Heitzler said of the new race: "Since last June, CART targeted Denver as a prime location for a temporary road race. We've worked hard to find the right group to own, manage and promote the event, and we're happy to say we've done so."
