Le Mans reprofiles famous esses

Map showing the changes to the Le Mans esses

Le Mans will have a new look after the Dunlop Bridge in 2002, when alterations to The Esses will mean the biggest circuit revisions since chicanes were added to the Mulsanne Straight.

More run off is needed for the circuit's Moto GP and 24 Hour motorcycle races, so a new kink will be added just after the Dunlop Bridge and the Bugatti circuit's Virage de la Chapelle will be moved closer to the famous bridge.

"This new section of track will be fantastic, just like our Porsche Curves," said Le Mans sports director Daniel Poissenot. "The developments will also be good for spectators."

The project will cost around £1.2 million when complete.
