Viking Park pens new oval plan
Atraditional American-style 3/4 mile oval lies at the heart of revised plans to build a new motor racing complex in Sweden, e-Tracks can exclusively reveal.
The Viking Motor Park oval, road course and drag strip complex at Enköping, near Stockholm, has been dramatically revised in the last month following visits to short ovals in the USA.
Circuit bosses have now canned plans for a 1.5 mile oval, sending designer Tom Barnard back to the drawing board to create a heavily revised road course and new short oval.

The end result owes a great deal to Richmond International Raceway in Virginia and spectator stands could seat around 40,000 race fans.
Innovations include a heated track surface which should help to extend the racing season a few months further before the harsh winters set in, a drag strip, two Legends ovals and spectator vantage points which allow for viewing of large portions of the circuit.
Circuit bosses hope that an on-site racing school, corporate days and exhibition facilities will mean that racing will be just one of a package of activities to make the venture profitable.
Negotiations are already under way with a variety of championships for races on both of the circuits. Construction is expected to begin next year.
