Mallory Park gets new chicane
Work has begun on a new chicane at Leicestershire's Mallory Park circuit, ahead of the new racing season.
The 'diversion' comes at the end of the Stebbe Straight after motorcycle governing body the ACU insisted on a reduction to entry speeds into the Esses.
"With the very high ground on the left of the Stebbe Straight this was the best compromise I could produce," circuit designer Tom Barnard told e-Tracks.
"The old circuit and the oval have been preserved and I expect the MSA to give licence for most cars to continue to preserve the proper circuit."
New viewing areas have been created using spoil extracted from the diversion, while a new marshalls' post has also been constructed.
Contractors started work at the beginning of the month and - weather permitting - should complete it by early February.
