The Moscow street race has been postponed until 2006 because of organisational difficulties.
The race had been due to take place on a street course on June 26, but Viktor Kiryanov, president of the Russian Motorsport Association, requested more time to ready the circuit and infrastructure.
In a letter to DTM organisers the ITR, he said that completion of the circuit modifications necessary to guarantee the safety of drivers and spectators was "close to impossible" ahead of a June race.
“Quite obviously, we comply with Moscow’s request,” said ITR chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht. “The drivers’ and spectators’ safety is priority number one. Therefore, we won’t make any compromises.
"Now, the persons in charge have time enough for the appropriate preparations. We look forward to contesting a race in Moscow in 2006.”
Brno in the Czech Republic has taken Moscow's place on the DTM calendar on June 5, with the Oschersleben round put back three weeks to the June 26 slot.
