Anew circuit near Salt Lake City could play host to the American Le Mans Series, according to reports.

ALMS boss Scott Atherton has visited Salt Lake City and has admitted to talks to bring the championship to Utah.

"All I can say is that we are aware of a new venue being built which is of interest to us," he told Autosport magazine. "We are always keen to explore new markets that would make sense for our manufacturers and sponsors."

It is thought the circuit in question is the new Miller Motorsports Park facility at Tooele, around 30 miles west of Salt Lake City. The Alan Wilson-designed track, which has a full length of 4.5 miles, is scehduled to open later this year.

The track is the brainchild of entrepreneur and racing enthusiast Larry H. Miller. He is also the owner of the Utah Jazz NBA franchise, the Delta Center arena in downtown Salt Lake City, the KJZZ-TV station, movie theatres, a theme restaurant, and more than 40 auto dealerships.
